South Atlantic Pro Series

New thunder in the Foothills of NC

Today, The South Atlantic Pro Series is proud to announce its new Pro Late Model touring series in the Southeast. The inaugural season is set to kick off in 2025. Shane and Shad Higgins will be working alongside Keeley Dubensky as Principals of the newly founded “SAPS Tour”. The trio will look to create a healthy environment for Pro Late Model drivers and their families to develop their skills and assist their rise up the ladder of stock car racing. With the leadership of the Higgins Brothers and the expertise of Keeley Dubensky coming together to create an opportunity for drivers, there is no speed limit for how quickly this series can grow.

The South Atlantic Pro Series will be headquartered in Weaverville, NC, home of the Higgins Family. The series will race alongside weekly racing shows at various tracks throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, with the championship taking place at Tri-County Speedway in Granite Falls, NC.

The Higgins Brothers have been a staple in short track racing, owning Tri-County Speedway for many years and operating action filled races every weekend throughout the summer months. Tri-County has quickly rose as a fan and driver favorite in the Carolinas, and the track can be found with packed grandstands any given weekend, where competitors give their all and race side by side all night, putting on a true spectacle for fans. The Higgins Brothers also own their own family businesses in their own rights.

Keeley Dubensky joining this duo is the perfect addition, ensuring the brothers have the proper guidance in a somewhat unknown prospect of operating a series. Coming from northwestern Pennsylvania, racing was not her initial go to, rather she found racing in her teenage years and quickly fell in love. After getting her start under Jack McNelly with the CARS Tour, she quickly rose the ranks in that series, becoming the first Female Race Director in the nation.

Ms. Dubensky continued to gain the respect of the competitors, as she rose to prominence throughout the southeast, playing a vital role in the revival of North Wilkesboro Speedway. Dubensky also oversaw the return of late model racing to the historic facility in 2022. Looking to start a new venture, she brings a wealth of knowledge of the short track community to a duo that settles for nothing less than excellence, as proven by their astounding facility in the rolling hills of Granite Falls, North Carolina.

The trio will look to continue to grow and ensure the prosperity of the short track community throughout the southeast, giving drivers and their teams a more affordable option to compete, with less travel required and a more affordable schedule than their competitors while protecting the integrity of competitive racing.

Despite the series having just begun, interest is at an all time high with the likes of many well respected competitors and teams. The series is set to debut at Tri County Speedway, with 3 visits to the track, including the championship race. SAPS will also pay visits to some of the most popular short tracks in the South East region. A finalized schedule for the South Atlantic Pro Series will be released soon, along with further competitor information.

If you have interest in being involved or partnering within the series, you are highly encouraged to reach out to Keeley Dubensky at keeley@sapstour.com.
